Wordmark.it

I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had this site! Wordmark.it, created by freelance designer Fahri Özkaramanlı, is a tool to quickly view a word in all the fonts loaded on your computer. I thought it may take a while to load, but it surprisingly populated really quickly, leaving me time to peruse the terrible fonts I forgot I had loaded on my laptop. Check it out for yourself at Wordmark.it.

Charlatan, Martyr, Hustler Poster

Joey Roth does it again with this simple and thought provoking letterpress poster.

“I created this graphic for “Hustle”, the first issue of 48 Hours Magazine. It captures my approach to design: giving form to objects and then clearing a path for them to enter the world.”

You can purchase one for $25 plus free shipping here. You can also see more of Joey’s great design work on his site here.

Ork Posters

Have I mentioned I have an awesome younger sister? She bought me an Ork Poster this Christmas of Philadelphia and I’m in love. Screen printed white on green French Paper, the poster pops and I now want to buy one of each…

I also really enjoy the Ork story by founder Jenny Beorkrem:

“A core belief of Ork Posters is keeping the designs original to you and your environment. Someday I may wonder, ‘What was I thinking?’ but we don’t license or permit the design to be used for any external, promotional purposes.

We’ve turned down big companies like Urban Outfitters, Macy’s and art distributors because I don’t want to just sell, sell, sell, that’s easy. The challenge is to build a business – offer great products, collect a customer base, and build a brand that people can relate to. Because we’ll inevitably have more ideas and products come along in the future, and I want to make sure that Ork has a connection with YOU, so you’ll be around for it – as cheesey as it may sound.

Great job, Jenny! And I’m happy to throw in a vote for Columbus and Cleveland to be next on your map list. Read more of Ork Poster’s story and buy one for yourself for just $22, here.

The Book Cover Archive

The Book Cover Archive is full of stunning and clever book covers and has me very distracted in the wee hours of the morning. There is something so inspiring about book covers. I love that they have to be a quick read, yet tell a story but appeal on a shelf with hundreds of others, all while staying unique unto themselves. It’s a demanding job! The Book Cover Archive is a great resource if you’re stuck on your own book project or if you just enjoy them like I do. See more of them here.

3D Movie Motto

Thoroughly annoyed with how many movies are coming out in 3D right now, I thought this little saying was appropriate. I can understand the intrigue, but the release list of 3D movies keeps getting longer for 2011… Do we really need to see Justin Beiber in 3D?

I was so thrilled to find out that Hyperactivitypography is finally going to be printed again! Pre-order a copy here and see some of the spreads I love on my previous post about the book here.

Timo Weiland

Amazing website design for designer Timo Weiland. Graphic, interactive, and honestly just unexpected, I like how the aesthetic plays with his fashion designs. See the site live here and the identity work for his brand on Design Work Life.
