I’m getting ready to turn 26 next month and while talking to my friend Clarissa, we’ve decided that you’re never too old for a birthday party. I spent way too long last night designing invitations and gathering inspiration like this Ban.do party to get the ideas flowing. I also love their birthday video by Shark Pig, shown below. Lots of color, paper and cocktails and you can’t go wrong.

These cut paper installations by artist Mia Pearlman have me in awe. I also enjoy her personal statement of her working process and purpose in her designs:
“I make site-specific cut paper installations, ephemeral drawings in both two and three dimensions that blur the line between actual, illusionistic and imagined space. Sculptural and often glowing with natural or artificial light, these imaginary weather systems appear frozen in an ambiguous moment, bursting through walls and windows, or hovering within a room.
My process is very intuitive, based on spontaneous decisions in the moment.“
Beautiful work. See more on her site, here.
A great mini series about women who are living their lives on their own terms, and finding success. Filmed by The Panic Room for Gap, I first found these videos through one of my favorite designers Anna at Rifle Paper Co., but the other videos inspired me just as deeply. There is just something about paper remnants created 75+ years ago that really gets me excited. The script writing, immaculate vignettes and patterns really get my heart racing. I know, it’s really geeky. But for those that share the feeling, I give you The Biggert Collection. A site with 1500+ vintage papers and checks, The Biggert Collection will be my new internet home for quite a few nights this week. I just have to learn to make a “5″ as shown in the second paper receipt above. Enjoy geeky more paperdom here.

Chad Kouri and his showcase of work, Long Live Analog, has me reaching for my scissors, neon paper and gluestick. I love the collages of bright strips with hand drawn details and awkward photos of teenagers and children from the 80′s. See more of his work here or download an iphone and desktop wallpaper or two here.
