Kevin Dart Illustration

I love the work of illustrator Kevin Dart. The hint of anime and splash of 50′s mod, his illustrations are vibrant and I love the backgrounds that have great movement with layers and layers of brush strokes. Make sure to check out his blog, too, with pictures of his process, screenprinting, inspiration and new work.

Alvin Diec Posters

I’ve posted before about Alvin Diec’s posters and I have a feeling this won’t be my last. Alvin’s work is so well executed and I’m inspired this week by his typography and color. His logo work is equally as impressive. I love the range of styles he has, yet they all seem to have a special touch. Thanks for the inspiration, Alvin!

Darren Booth

I fell in love with Darren Booth’s work when I saw his book cover for Steve Martin’s book, An Object Of Beauty. I love how each piece of his work comes to life because of the layering of collage and paint. I like to try to decipher what stroke or piece of cut material was placed first. And I think his Valentine is perfect for today. Happy Vday!

Albie Designs

What cute and colorful illustrations from Albie Designs in Portland. Seems to be a major trend lately to have art for cities. I love it, except they keep leaving out Ohio… They’ve got to fix this! Purchase a print of your own of cities like New York, Chicago, Portland and Boston on Albie’s Etsy site.

Klas Ernflo: Short Story Poster

I love this poster from designer Klas Ernflo. A beautiful solution for creating an image for a short story. It’s one of those “oh, duh” moments we often have when trying to find a solution. Winsomely done.

Decade Diary

“Chronicling past, present interests and future perspectives of a decade lived in New York City,” illustrator Bernadette Pascua shares her illustrations, photography and fashion with the world on Decade Diary. I’m a sucker for watercolor and handwritten type and Bernadette’s collection of illustrations tell such a beautiful story of her life in New York. You can follow her diary online here and view her portfolio here.

Olaf Hajek (whose work I posted earlier last month, here) has a 1xRun on sale beginning today. 1xRUN is a Limited Edition Time-Released Art Print site, which hosts artists to create a special one-run piece to be sold for only one week.

“1xRUN – Simple concept. Collecting art does not have to break the bank. 1XRUN is working with leading emerging artists and providing weekly limited edition, signed, authentic and exclusive prints. This is a great way to expand your emerging collection. RUNS start every Monday.”

You can purchase one of Olaf’s prints on 1xRun here, and check out the upcoming artists while you’re at it!

Hunter Gather Prints by Lab Partners

Love these Hunt & Gather prints from Lab Partners. Inspired by their flea market finds, the collection includes shoes, phones, perfume bottles and ships. See more of their work here.

Ork Posters

Have I mentioned I have an awesome younger sister? She bought me an Ork Poster this Christmas of Philadelphia and I’m in love. Screen printed white on green French Paper, the poster pops and I now want to buy one of each…

I also really enjoy the Ork story by founder Jenny Beorkrem:

“A core belief of Ork Posters is keeping the designs original to you and your environment. Someday I may wonder, ‘What was I thinking?’ but we don’t license or permit the design to be used for any external, promotional purposes.

We’ve turned down big companies like Urban Outfitters, Macy’s and art distributors because I don’t want to just sell, sell, sell, that’s easy. The challenge is to build a business – offer great products, collect a customer base, and build a brand that people can relate to. Because we’ll inevitably have more ideas and products come along in the future, and I want to make sure that Ork has a connection with YOU, so you’ll be around for it – as cheesey as it may sound.

Great job, Jenny! And I’m happy to throw in a vote for Columbus and Cleveland to be next on your map list. Read more of Ork Poster’s story and buy one for yourself for just $22, here.

The Coloring Book

Love this. Is it strange to want this more for me than my imaginary children? Available for $18.95 here.
