Second up for this weekend is the Three Potato Four Barn Sale! I’ve visited them only once since I’ve been here and I’m looking forward to showing it off because there just isn’t anything like it! Their space is incredible and they only open it up once a month for visitors, or by appointment only. If you have the time, make sure you drop by. I’ve got my eye on another vintage letter S, so hopefully no one else has picked it up yet…

My friend from Ohio is coming for five days and I’m going to keep her busy! I’m looking forward to this holiday and crossing off a few more things off my Philly to-do list. We’ve made quite a list and so I wanted to share some of things we’ll be doing. Tuesday-Friday I’ll be posting something fun to be had this weekend or things that when you visit, you need to make time to do!
First up: Cheese & Honey Festival at Terrain. It was postponed from last weekend because of Irene, so I’m thrilled we actually get to go! A trip to Terrain is a must anytime you visit and because I didn’t have time to shop when I went for the blogger meetup, I’m excited to pick up some Lavender Syrup, cheese and honey, and maybe even a plant that I’ll try my hardest not to kill. A fantastic way to kick off September and the fall season upon us.
We’re braving Hurricane Irene and heading down the coast to Baltimore this weekend! It should be interesting… Hopefully we’ll miss most of it, but either way it’ll be a good time! Even though I was born in Maryland, I don’t remember a bit of it and I’m excited to explore the area, go see an Orioles v. Yankees game and some good eats, good drinks and good company. Have a great weekend!
Whew! Things have been busy! I have disappeared this week because work took on a whole new level, but that’s good, right? I started freelancing at a local Philly agency and then head to another job next week, so it feels good to get back into a routine. I’ve also been taking more time for my health and the “we-put-down-the-deposit-so-I-have-to-be-wedding-dress-ready-asap” mindset is in full effect for our wedding that is now less than a year away. Pictured above are the two things I’ve been taking more time for: runs along the row houses near the Art Museum and cooking to my hearts content. It feels so, so good.

{ 12 ladies in the Styer’s Garden Cafe (sorry, Danielle, I didn’t know I caught you mid-sentence! :) }
I had the pleasure of joining 11 other women from the Philadelphia area last night at Terrain’s Cafe at Styers for a night of design, small business, and of course, the usual baby/wedding/reality tv talk. Most of us had met in Oh Joy’s Rx class, but we added a few newbies which made it fun to meet twitter friends in person.
Terrain is located about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia, in Glen Mills, PA. The setting was phenomenal and the Terrain staff were so sweet for dealing with 12 hungry ladies. As you can see from above, our table lined the middle of the restaurant and there were gorgeous hanging plants above us. I wish my family and friends were in Philly because I would absolutely want to have a bridal shower there!
Restored stained glass doors separated seating areas and mason jars with tea lights were lit as the sunset hit. It was so romantic and I’ll definitely have to go back and enjoy their patio and shop. It was such a beautiful setting.
You could hear squeals as our food arrived and my two first courses (I couldn’t choose, ok??) were devoured. The heirloom tomato salad had me at goat cheese and balsamic drizzle.
Our bread was served in flower pots with lavender honey butter and my mushroom quiche with micro greens was gone in 2 minutes flat. Am I making your mouth water yet?
If you have the chance to experience Terrain and the Garden Cafe, I highly recommend making the time to do it. It was absolutely worth the trip and I was so happy to share my first time there with 11 influential women from the area. Thanks, ladies, for a great night out!
It’s that time of year again for the Dublin Irish Festival! Scott and I are road-tripping back to Ohio to celebrate my heritage for 3 full days in Dublin, Ohio. The event is a crazy whirlwind with concerts, food, booths, art, dancing and we look forward to it every year. We both have gone for 8+ years and the last 5 we’ve been together, so I think it’s officially a tradition now.
And let me introduce you to my most favorite part of the festival besides the bands and celtic dancing… Corn Beef & Cabbage Egg Rolls from Claddagh Irish Pub. They make the trip worth it, to say the least.

I’m looking forward to the long trip with my beau and getting my mind off of life and the craziness that has been the last few weeks. Have a great weekend!

It feels so good to be home! I’m officially moved and enjoying the sights of the city as well as some good quality time with my beau. It’s been three years since we’ve lived in the same city (wow time flies!) and it feels great to date him again, especially when there’s an endless list of things we want to try out! So excuse my absence as I enjoy a little down time and the posts will soon follow. :)
Well, it’s officially wedding planning time! I’ve been scheming and searching and have booked a venue, caterer and best of all, my photographers, Red Gallery Photography. I wanted to share their amazing work because I think they’re fantastically talented and brides in Ohio (and beyond) should take a look!
Lisa and Clay are a husband and wife team and as soon as my browser loaded their site, I knew I had found a perfect match. I love their style, finesse and their creative spirits and I can’t wait to see the creative spin they’ll take on our wedding. Hooray for weddings!

Wow. What a weekend. While I only made it to one day of the Weapons of Mass Creation Fest, I can’t believe the energy, inspiration and sweet swag bag I left with in the short amount of time I was there. The energy was intoxicating and I felt lucky to have been able to have this so close to home.
It seemed that the overall theme from the speakers was work hard and keep making good shit. Almost every speaker touched on the subject and it made me feel good that my late nights lately will pay off, even if it doesn’t seem like it now. Alex Cornell also brought up a really great topic that serendipitous moments can change your path to success, too, you just have to keep working and take the opportunities when they come. We can’t write the career path we want to take and sometimes you can’t even imagine the place you’ll eventually be. Take the opportunities and let them shape your career, not the other way around.

I also loved hearing the ladies of Quite Strong and how they put their collective together. They focused on community and how they are able to harness the power of five to do the work they want and the work they feel strongly about including pro-bono and non-profit cases. With five women, they are able to harness each other’s strengths and do great work because of it.
Mig Reyes was just outright hilarious and shared his “Fuck the police, make whatchu wanna” attitude towards design. He showed the progress of how one personal project led to another bigger one which led to another which led to another. He said to never turn down the opportunity to grow and try something new. Who cares if you don’t know a program? Learn it!
It was a whirlwind of a day, but I’m so glad we made it. I’m already looking forward to next year!
